WestJet Rewards began in March 2010, when the Calgary based airline announced its Frequent Guest Program alongside a co-branded RBC Mastercard. The original design was cash-like by intent: members earned WestJet dollars on airfare and could apply them to any flight on any date, including seat sales, with no redemption grids and no blackout dates.
On April 30, 2025 the program converted WestJet dollars to WestJet points at a rate of 100 points per dollar. Earning stayed revenue based: members collect 1 to 8 points per dollar of eligible spend depending on status. The tier ladder runs Teal, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, with annual qualifying spend thresholds of $4,000, $6,000, and $10,000 for the top three levels as of January 2025.
Redemption keeps the original promise: any WestJet seat available for purchase can be booked with points.
